Locations: Keremeos, Oliver

Subjects: Math, Computers, Counselling, Work Experience and the Portage Program.

I have enjoyed teaching at YouLearn.ca for fifteen years and teach Science, Math, Technology, Business, Psychology, and Career Education. As part of a district team, I assist in helping many of our students find work experience placements which may lead to exciting apprenticeship opportunities. In addition to teaching I have graduated from a Master’s in Counselling degree which has been a valuable asset in helping students attain greater success both in and out of school.
Outside of class I enjoy a balance between outdoor recreation and continuing my focus on Psychology related topics. I have been an avid follower of equestrian events and enjoy horseback riding.

Portage
Humanities

I teach English, Socials, History, Planning 10, Family Studies, Law 12 and Economics 12 at the Portage facility in Keremeos. I am a UBC Okanagan graduate with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations major). I also have experience with private tutoring (Sylvan Learning Center) and adult education (Sprott-Shaw Community College) and hope to make a real difference in the education and lives of the students at The Crossing.
In my spare time, I am an active member of a historical recreation group. We recreate aspects of life in the Middle Ages from practicing Arts & Sciences to staging events featuring martial tournaments and feasts. I am also a professional Middle Eastern dancer and perform both cabaret and folkloric styles as an individual and with my dance troupe.

Portage
Math and Science

I am the math and sciences teacher out at Portage, Keremeos. I have a B.Sc degree in Environmental Chemistry and a B.Ed degree. Prior to teaching at Portage I spent three years in S. Korea teaching English, which I recommend to anyone interested in working and travelling overseas.

Outside of school I like camping, gardening, and cooking. I also enjoy exploring new technology. In the past few years I've begun learning music, teaching music, and playing music.  I play the flute and the ocarina - a very old instrument that is popular in various cultures.
